Ultrasonography and Embryo Transfer Workshops are being conducted in tandem May 5-10, 2023, at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan with the intention of providing essential knowledge and hands-on experience for veterinary practitioners, research scientists and graduate students.  The Ultrasound Workshop is a three-day course covering principles of ultrasonography equipment and imaging, imaging of the reproductive tract in large animals and OPU/IVF.  The Embryo Transfer Workshop is a three- and half–day course covering all aspects of embryo transfer technology in cattle.  For more information and to register, please visit: https://wcvm.usask.ca/education/ultrasound.php

Onward and Upward: Challenging the status quo through courage and creativity – will be the featured Continuing Education program will be part of the 2023 Membership Engagement and Awards Evening slated for Saturday, February 11 in Headingley, MB. 

The session will count for one hour of CE credit and will be held immediately ahead of the awards dinner to be held at the Gates on Rolblin. Presented by Amy Oliver + Co, the session will begin at 4:30 followed by the awards dinner cocktail hour at 5:30.

The EASAV (Edmonton Association of Small Animal Veterinarians) Peer Support Group has been providing support to its members for over 2 years now and in 2021 expanded to serve our colleagues nationwide! We now have vets & RVTs from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario working as peer support leaders.
• We offer a safe, empathetic, supportive and confidential space to talk and process what you might be going through.
• The group meets virtually every month.
• The trained peer supporters (who are RVTs and DVMs) are also available for one-on-one confidential phone or zoom calls
• Our leadership team is made up of veterinarians & RVTs from across Canada.

A recent postal–related incident is renewing calls for safety and diligence at all Manitoba veterinary practice offices. A delivery to the Manitoba Veterinary Medical Association office in Winnipeg initially caused some concern amongst staff. Though the contents were benign, MVMA Council reminds all that it’s important to keep safety in mind at all time, including when receiving or handling items at the office. Each year, Manitoba Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) members recognize those who have made significant contributions to the advancement of veterinary medicine in this province. To mark such achievements, the MVMA will host the Membership Engagement and Awards Evening and Dinner that is open for all to attend.  

The event will highlight the many outstanding achievements in veterinary medicine over the past 12 months, including the Veterinarian of the Year award. A number of honourary and lifetime memberships will also be presented along with certificates of merit for exemplary service to the profession in Manitoba. 

“This will be a time to mark the many contributions that veterinary medicine delivers to the broader community each and every day,” MVMA Executive Director Corey Wilson says. “We invite and encourage everyone to join us to properly acknowledge and salute the tremendous impact our members have on so many aspects of day–to–day life in Manitoba.” 

The awards evening and dinner will be preceded by a Continuing Education session from Amy Oliver & Co. on professional leadership and business coaching. All attendees will earn one hour of CE credit.
